The Journal of Orthopaedic Medicine reports that chiropractic is "the only proven effective treatment for" whiplash. Fortunately, insurance typically covers the cost of chiropractic treatment for neck injuries in automobile accidents.
THE AUTO ACCIDENT INJURIES
A car accident is traumatic. Unfortunately, often suffering does not end there. The symptoms of whiplash and similar injuries can occur months or even years after the accident.
The symptoms of spinal injury can include not only neck pain, but also the pain that you can ignore or fail to associate with the collision:
- headaches
- nausea
- shoulder pain
- pain in the hand or arm
- the jaw or facial pain
- dizziness or disorientation
This is what happens: the car goes forward, and so are the people in the car. The car hits something, and the sudden deceleration of the car makes people in the car to be pushed back at once. A Sometimes the car is beaten from behind, so the car accelerates suddenly, then put on the brakes, causing a sudden deceleration that pushes him back in his seat.
Either way, his head thrown back and forward, beyond the normal limits of movement. Ligaments can be torn and damaged, and may also shorten the muscles as they try to support the head. The neck can even be pulled in both directions so quickly that actually forms an S-curve, an unnatural position that can cause major damage.
Modern tools such as CT imaging and ultrasound can show damage to the tissues, even if no bones are broken, and your insurance usually covers your treatment.
